As a resident of Ernakulam South, Kochi, Kerala, India, I am deeply concerned about the health and safety of the Mullaperiyar Dam. This personal matter is not unique to me; many of us here understand its importance for our daily life and economy. All we yearn for is seamless dam maintenance and limited water usage to prevent future catastrophe. This dam, for years, has been providing us with water for domestic and irrigation purposes, contributing significantly to our regional prosperity. But its deteriorating condition could lead to disastrous consequences not only for us, but also for the generations to come.

Recent studies have shown that the dam's aging infrastructure and the increasing level of water pose a substantial threat to its stability. Improper dam maintenance could lead to loss of lives, destruction of property, and have grave environmental impacts. Also, unlimited water usage may strain its structure beyond its capacity.

As responsible citizens, we urge the relevant stakeholders to immediately set up a comprehensive maintenance system for the Mullaperiyar Dam. We also exhort them to implement a strict water rationing policy to secure our beloved dam's integrity, safeguarding our community's well-being.
