Prioritize Road Work and Stop Long Term Closures in Toronto

The Issue

Since 2016 the number of workers commuting by car in Toronto has increased by more than 600,000 to reach 2 million. Toronto is the biggest city in Canada, and with more than 2 million workers who commute by car, our road and highway infrastructure needs to be up to date and smooth, but that never seems to be the case. Whenever we leave the house it seems that there's traffic and we have to set aside absurd amounts of time to travel relatively short distances. Expansion and roadwork are necessary but plans need to be made for work to be more efficient and effective. For example, from mid April until mid 2027 the Gardiner Expressway will be reduced to two lanes each way. For almost 3 years Torontonians are going to have to deal with even more congestion on one of the busiest roadways in Canada. City officials say that most work will occur from 7 am to 11 pm, right during rush hour and the middle of the day.

Sign this petition to help our voices be heard. All highway and road infrastructure work should be prioritized in Toronto, so that Canadians can go about their day with minimal delays. Toronto is the busiest city in Canada, and yet it doesn't seem like it is a top priority to get our roadways up and running. Construction areas seem to be constantly empty, when we need work crews to be working 24/7 hours to minimize delays for hundreds of thousands of Torontonians. We need to make a statement, and let the city know that roads and highways are a huge part of our lives and need to be prioritized.
