Prioritize pension updation case of late Sri MC Singla Civil Appeal No 7993/2023
The Issue
I am one among the 8 lakh bank retirees and family pensioners who have been facing a harrowing experience due to stagnated pensions for over three decades. I represent not just my own voice but the silent pleas of millions who are struggling every day to make ends meet after dedicating their lives to serving the banking sector.
Sri MC Singla has filed a case on pension updation decades back Civil Appeal No 7993/2023 SLP (C) 5561 of 2016 but could not see the desired justice in his life time and he reached heavinly abode. His case is now pending in Hon SC.
He is instrumental advocate for our cause too, tirelessly working to ensure that justice is served to the tens of thousands facing financial hardships in their golden years. It is not only in his memory and honor but also applicable to around 8 lakhs pensioners that we urgently request the Honourable Supreme Court to prioritize the pension updation case of Sri MC Singla championed so fervently.
The current state of pensions for bank retirees has remained unchanged for more than 30 years, leaving us vulnerable in an ever-changing economic landscape. Inflation continues to rise, but our pensions do not. The standard of living becomes more demanding, yet our financial support remains inadequate. Many pensioners and their families are struggling to afford basic necessities such as healthcare, housing, and essential living costs. This stagnation not only affects our daily lives but also erodes the dignity and respect that we should enjoy in our retirement.
Honourable Supreme Court issued directions in February 2026 to expedite cases where petrtioners are senior super senior citizens, ranks priority . In the case of Sri MC Singla (Late) main petetioner and beneficiaries side there are more super senior citizens as no pension updation for more than three decades. Without knowing the positive outcome in Sri MC Singla case many senior retirees are also reached heavinly abode day -by-day for the last three decades. Some are waiting for their turn too.
The lsted cases to be heard in true spirit of guudelines and adjournments of listed cases at the request of Advocates are also be as per Hon SC instructions issued on 18.03.26 to be ensured for strict compliance.
All bank retirees are looking at Hon SC and every retiree is having confidence that the Hon SC will be empathetic to do justice in the interest of 8 lakh pensioners who are eagerly awaiting justice, as other concerned machinery ,departments have not done the justice to pensioners as warranted on pension updation.
The Honourable Supreme Court's intervention is critical in restoring justice and financial security for all bank pensioners. By prioritizing this case, the court would not only respect the legacy of a devoted man who fought for his fellow retirees but also send a strong message that the voices of those who have served our country in the banking sector matter.
We propose a fair and transparent mechanism for pension updation that aligns with the current economic realities and helps elevate the living conditions of bank retirees. This process should consider inflationary trends and establish a system where pensions are periodically revised to reflect changes in the cost of living.
The need for pension revision is not just a financial issue, but a fundamental matter of human dignity and justice. We call upon all citizens, especially those in positions of power, to ensure that the sacrifices and dedication of bank retirees do not go unrecognized or unrewarded.
Please join us in urging the Honourable Supreme Court to take timely action on this critical matter. Sign this petition and support the fair treatment of all bank pensioners.
With respectfully regards,
On behalf of all pensioners
Yours sincerely
