We, the citizens and residents of Colorado, urgently appeal to our state government to prioritize the welfare and interests of its residents. Our natural resources, including our air, land, water, and diverse wildlife, ecosystem, and geology, as well as the overall well-being of all Coloradans, must be at the forefront of your agenda. It is imperative that your decisions are guided by the voices and choices of Coloradans, reflecting the unique needs and values of our communities.

Since January 2025, we have observed a significant decline in attention and responsiveness from our government at all levels. The actions and inactions of our local and state governments and state representatives have not only been disappointing but also unacceptable. There is a growing sense of neglect and frustration among the people, as our concerns and priorities are consistently overlooked or decisions are made that go against Coloradans’ wants and needs.

Furthermore, Coloradans have become increasingly aware of a troubling rise in political misconduct, including deceit and corruption within the Colorado government. It is disheartening to witness Colorado elected officials, who are supposed to serve and protect the citizens, instead pursuing personal gain and interests. This betrayal of trust undermines the very foundation of our democracy and community.

We are particularly disheartened by the lack of courage displayed by our representatives. Their failure to challenge the Trump Administration and address the pressing issues that have been affecting Coloradans since January 2025 is a matter of grave concern. The cowardice in dealing with the President and his administration is disgraceful, and it has left many Coloradans feeling abandoned and voiceless.

Coloradans demand that taxpayer funds be allocated toward essential services that directly benefit the public, such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure improvements. Investments should be directed toward strengthening our communities, rather than being funneled to corporations that will bring more harm than good to our state in the long run, causing negative environmental and human impact.

We urge our representatives to be vocal advocates for us in Colorado and in Washington, unwaveringly fighting for our interests and rights. The decisions made by the Colorado government over the last 16 months, and its representatives, have led to increased suffering among the people of Colorado, and it is time for our voices to be heard and for actions to be taken that we require. We demand accountability and a renewed commitment to serve the people of Colorado with integrity and dedication.

List of Citizen Demands:

1. Address the drought, water shortages, and deteriorating infrastructure that are leaving communities without potable water, hurting agricultural businesses, and damaging ecological health at all levels.
2. No more data centers and detention centers.
3. Cease leasing Colorado public lands to mining, drilling, fracking, or other destructive operations, including those by the federal government. New agreements must receive voter approval.
4. Prohibit the sale or leasing of Colorado’s state-owned mineral, oil, and natural gas rights unless to the full-time Colorado resident landowner where these resources are located, or a Colorado-based business (including the parent company) if the landowner approves.
5. Do not initiate new infrastructure projects until all incomplete and backlog projects are finished, unless necessary for community safety or to address emergency needs.
6. Address the high cost of living without welcoming more large corporate developments or special-interest groups.
7. Housing:
   1. Implement a temporary moratorium on housing developments with homes priced above $130,000—the amount a Coloradan minimum wage (state $15.16/hr) worker can afford. Buyers must be low- to middle-income owner-occupants or family members of the full-time low- to middle-income occupant without requiring an investment loan. Provide sliding-scale mortgages for low- to middle-income Colorado buyers.
   2. Cap HOA/POA/LOA fees and ban extreme restrictions and covenants that make it impossible for low- to middle-income individuals and families to become homeowners.
   3. Permit private landowners to build two-family unit dwellings on their residentially zoned land to enhance housing supply and income for low- and middle-income Coloradans.
   4. Development companies must be Colorado-based and owned, including parent companies, during the moratorium, and they must be given the first chance at quoting/bidding on proposed Colorado-based projects going forward.
8. Collaborate with Colorado small business owners through in-person meetings, phone calls, telecommunications, and email and text communication to develop a plan to revitalize low-income, smaller, and rural community economies.
9. Improve the public education system:
   1. Seek guidance from successful states, such as those in the Northeast/New England.
   2. Keep politics (except in civics, sociology, psychology, or history education) and religion (except for educational discussions in appropriate classes) out of public education.
10. Reform healthcare:
    1. Ensure accurate financial management.
    2. Work to eliminate fraud on all sides, including among politicians, program providers, care providers, and product suppliers.
    3. Attract specialists, especially in genetic and rare illnesses, as well as neurologists and experts in nervous system dysfunction.
    4. Enforce strict patient care standards and address fraud at publicly funded healthcare facilities.
    5. Ensure people who live with chronic mental and physical illnesses are not overlooked or gaslit.
11. Transition the homeless from the streets to becoming healthy and productive members of society:
    1. Offer work-in-kind programs for housing and necessities, including healthcare.
    2. Seek guidance from states like Connecticut.
12. Ensure equal rights for everyone, including the LGBTQ+ and immigrant communities, and pass legislation that makes these protections permanent.
13. Stand up to Washington, across all parties and levels, and the Supreme Court. Enforce the Constitution and work for the benefit of Coloradans (and all Americans).
