As residents of Blackrock who use Rockfield Park daily, we see and feel the inconvenience faced by our children and the local community due to the extended closure of this crucial bridge. The closure has forced many schoolchildren to divert to a significantly busier main road, disrupting their safe passage to and from school each day. Also, the amenity and overall potential of our newly completed Rockfield Park is marred by the persistent closure of the bridge.

Going by the data from the National Safety Council, pedestrian accidents increase by 10% on busy roads. The present diversion due to the closure poses an increased safety threat to our children and the large number of people who use the park for the many activities it offers. Hence, we plead the local authorities to speed up their efforts towards reopening the bridge, taking into consideration the safety of our children, the public and the quality of life in our community.
