On June 13th, 2020 Chief Dale Cummins of the Prineville Police Department used the department’s official Facebook page to target and slander a local woman of color and human rights activist. The video has resulted in death threats and continued violence that have made it impossible for her family to live in peace. 

Multiple attempts have been made by Central Oregon locals and the victim to resolve this issue: emails, phone calls, and letters have been sent. Many have demanded the video be removed, but the City of Prineville has refused to respond, or have sent copy/paste emails refusing to address the issue. There have been multiple rallies held in Prineville to bring awareness to this issue and how it has impacted this family’s life. The rallies have been met with aggression, racism, violence, threats, and a complete disregard for the safety of peaceful protestors by the Prineville PD. We are calling on our allies now, to sign this petition and show your support. 

The Chief has refused to take accountability for his actions and blatantly chooses to further endanger a woman of color for speaking on the issues of racism in rural America. We are now demanding that Chief Dale Cummins resign from the department, remove the video, and issue a formal apology... it’s the only choice.
