No more uniforms

No more uniforms
The Issue
The faculty at Osceola Middle School has decided that for the upcoming school year, students must follow a strict dress code that includes uniforms. According to the SCOTUS case of Tinker v. Des Moines,”A student does not shed their constitutional freedom of speech or expression when they enter the schoolhouse gates. The new dress code says that students are not allowed to wear jeans, printed tops, and joggers. The addition is very unnecessary and should be abolished. It also says that students must wear either skirts, shorts, or khakis. Many people are uncomfortable with their bodies and wear certain clothing for a reason. Forcing innocent children to dress like they are in a boarding school is not okay. Also, it would be a waste of money for parents to have to buy their child a uniform they they are either going to grow out of or eventually graduate and not need the uniform anymore. The current dress code has been working, yet the discipline office is complaining that there are too many kids being sent there, when that is what they already have to handle. And even if the parents are mad that their child got dress coded, why did they let them go out like that in the first place? However, the people that do get sent to the discipline office should be punished because the standard has been presented all year. In conclusion, the new dress code is unneeded because it is a waste of money, against our rights, and is embarrassing to students.
