Last December, you and more than 1,100 other signatories helped convince Council to make Witherspoon St. more people-friendly.

Tonight the latest design for Witherspoon St. will be presented to Council.

But when compared to the set-up we've had over the past year, during the pandemic, it appears this design reduces the amount of space available for outdoor dining by more than half.

The proposed amount of space for sidewalks and outdoor dining has been shrunk, in favor of a wider roadway for cars. This would make the street less safe for pedestrians as it encourages higher car speeds and double parking.

Please tell Council that you continue to support a pedestrian-friendly Witherspoon St. - one that is safe and inviting to residents and visitors alike, and gives local business room to thrive.

The Witherspoon plan will be presented around 8 pm tonight. We hope you'll come out to support a more people-friendly design.
