 Tourism which is considered as an agent of development and an engine for economic growth & employment generation for country.  India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) already lost its 17 hotels in 2002 The left over hotels after almost 10 years are now doing well and are profit making in totality. 

Facts  :-      

  • ITDC Profit surges 264.86% in the FY 14-15
  • ITDC presents dividends worth Rs 18.84 crore to the government.
  • ITDC also manages the VVIP catering like Hyderabad House and Vigyan Bhawan.    
  • Started Hunar-Se-Rozgar of MOT : Free HOSPITALITY TRAINING     PROGRAMME ( 8th Class pass youth) for skill development started will end. Almost 30,000 youths trained by ITDC in 14 states of the country.
  •  Will stop the NIOS And ITDC initiative to impart hospitality education to the  youth  .

ITDC can help the country in improving the quality of the Mid Day meal plan. An ISO 9001 – 2008 Certified, the Ashok Institute of Hospitality & Tourism Management is run by ITDC in New Delhi. Bachelor's Degree Course in 'International Hospitality Business Management'; Trade Diploma Courses in Hotel Operations and Air Hostess, Aviation, Travel & Tourism Courses.                                                                                          Ambitious Project on hold : Plans for  First Tourism University by ITDC .ITDC ambitious project to enter into hospitality and tourism university in Rajiv Gandhi education city at Rai village on the Delhi-Haryana border in the year 2013-14 is still on hold.

Government was gracious enough to constitute an  Inter Ministerial Group .The Inter Ministerial Group (IMG) of the respective state was called to discuss the issue of obtaining approval of sub-leasing the property on long term basis or giving the property on operation and management contract (23rd Dec. 2015).Most of the state government are reluctant to extend the lease,an organisation which is not asking  any financial and policy support in an open environment, may at-least be allowed to survive . 

Impact of the news on business and employees morale

The news of the ITDC disinvestment to private players has impacted the morale of the employees and the customers . In the last 1 year all the media (print) came with the disinvestment news with great publicity which hampered the conference and marriage bookings all across the ITDC hotels.
