" So the decision has been made to move Chippy out of the park. No notice was given to us despite 8 months of emails, meetings, phone calls, submissions of expert evidence, videos etc. We walked this evening to the park and to our horror saw NPARKS staff, trying to trap Chippy into a cage of fruit and blankets. To their credit the three officers were as humane as they could be with Chippy. They could not tell us where Chippy was going to be brought to however NPARKS did say he would not be culled. what does that mean? No one will return our numerous emails, phone calls etc. from the various agencies NPARKS Executive Board, Directors, et.al Reading between the lines from the correspondences with various agencies, the view from the authorities is that Chippy must be ' rehabilitated' back into a wild monkey and ' reintegrated' into a troop here in Singapore. This is despite world leading macaque specialist Professor Agromoorthy along with other primatologists, zoologist et.al. stating that such a decision would be futile and disastrous for Chippy being so tame and humanised. No scientific evidence or observations has ever been shown to prove that Chippy was NOT a domesticated monkey by ANY agency here. I hope that those of you who live in Singapore will telephone ACRES and ask what they are doing with Chippy. There is no chance that they will let me know.
