Personal letters/pleas have made a Difference.  There is still more work to be done - Keep the conversation going!

On June 3, 2020 Lanette Siragusa, Chief Nursing Officer for Manitoba Shared Health announced that the Province is expanding visitor access for in-patients in Manitoba's hospitals and health centres as soon as Friday June 5, 2020 and claim to be striking a balance between protecting staff/patients, minimizing the spread of Covid and ensuring that the vital connections with loved ones help to promote health and healing.

In making the announcement about how Manitoba is evolving and changing over the course of the Pandemic, Siragusa stated that personal letters and stories that have been shared about how difficult the last few months have been for patients and families.

The new visitor guidelines allow in-patients to identify a  single designated support person to visit once a day.  Patients in the hospital for 14+ days can identify a second support person.

While Manitoba allows  in-person visits in hospitals, the Province has not yet figured out how to have safe visits inside Personal Care Homes - WE MUST KEEP THE CONVERSATION GOING and ask our elected officials to Make safe access to Seniors isolating in Long Term Care the Countries TOP priority.  Manitoba has made progress, how can this be expanded to other provinces?  All provinces must work to strike the balance in both hospitals and Personal Care Homes between protecting staff/patients, minimizing the spread of Covid and ensuring that the vital connections with loved ones to help promote health and healing.

Thank-you to everyone for signing the petition and helping to give Senior's isolating in long term care a voice
