Send a message to Pride Toronto's sponsors & tell them you don't support the Police Ban
The Issue
Pride Toronto plans to exclude Police participation in this year's Pride Parade. To me, this is outrageous. Pride is about inclusiveness.
Sign my petition to indicate that you plan to boycott this year's celebrations. I strongly believe that if sponsors withdraw or apply pressure to Pride to be inclusive of everyone, Pride Toronto will change its decision and allow everyone to celebrate together.
It's my plan to encourage Pride Toronto sponsors to withdraw support and donations from the event.
This unprecedented decision to exclude one group of parade marchers and supports at the request of another group is simply unacceptable. It creates a precedent that leaves me wondering, what group will be excluded next? Catholic Churches? Military? Government workers? Politicians?
Groups should only be excluded from Pride Toronto when clearly violate its policies and not because the vocal minority applies pressure.
Pride Toronto's Mission: "Pride Toronto brings people together to celebrate the history, courage and diversity of our community."
How does excluding hundreds of marchers from the parade be supportive?
This decision really must change.
INTERESTING READ:
Pride Toronto is really taking a step backwards. You only have to look at the news from Western Australia to see how Police fought their policies that banned then from marching in uniform. It wasn't their parade that said no, it was the police. In 2016, WA police were given permission to march in their uniforms for the first time - and now Pride Toronto wants to take away that option.
