The Issue

Save Dallas City Hall!

The recent developments around the Dallas City Hall move and its demolition funding are beyond frustrating. Judge Eric Moye granted a TRO highlighting that agenda items 1-2, and 4 didn't even meet the basic guidelines for the council to vote on them. Despite this, someone decided to cook up a plan to use Dallas Water Utility bills to cover these expenses, on top of the property taxes. This plan burdens both property owners and anyone who receives a water bill in Dallas.

This unfair strategy not only stings property owners with higher taxes but also punishes every household with added water bills. It's a sneaky way to funnel more money into a flawed decision-making process where items didn't even pass the proper voting procedures. It's outrageous that the city plans to dip even further into our pockets without our consent.

The implication of this funding method is both inequitable and unsustainable. Why should we allow a mismanaged agenda to dictate further financial strain on the community? Dallas residents deserve to be heard and have a say in where their hard-earned money goes. It's critical to explore fair and transparent funding solutions that respect both the democratic process and the financial well-being of our community.

We demand that the Dallas City Council rethink this approach and consider more equitable alternatives that don't exploit residents. It's time to hold the decision-makers accountable and ensure they serve the public's interest rather than their agendas.

Join me in demanding a fair financing approach for the Dallas City Hall closure. Let's push back against unfair tax burdens and work together for a responsible, community-focused solution. Sign the petition to make our voices heard and protect our city's resources.
