As a concerned resident of the Regency North over 55 community in Fredericksburg, VA, I am challenging the developer/ board of directors' decision to install a fence across the back side of General Mahone Drive of our neighborhood. This decision was hastily taken based on a solitary complaint, ignoring the voice of the majority and overlooking the effects it might have on the community at large.

The proposal was made to curtail children from accessing our development down a hill. However, this specific concern appears to be rectified already as the complainant has their yard fenced and the residents behind her have put up a privacy fence. An added fence seems unnecessary, a mere duplication that is an unwarranted expense to our community. Projections indicate that the costs could involved  a  rise in HOA fees, putting an undue burden on all of us.

What makes this proposal even more exasperating is the fact that the proposed fence path extends from the end of the property, passing through back yards, all the way to the main entrance. This would create a bizarre situation wherein some properties would have two fences – one behind another, clearly not a strategic approach for our community.

The majority of us chose Regency North for its openness, tranquillity and freedom - the feeling of being in a neighborhood, not a gated complex. By signing this petition, you're voicing opposition to this ill-conceived fence project and sending a clear message to the directors: we are not ready to bear unnecessary expenses that compromise our community's ambiance.
