As a local resident of Brevard County, I have firsthand experience of the critical role Rockledge Hospital plays in our community. This hospital is more than just a building - it's a place where lifesaving interventions are performed, emergencies dealt with, and ongoing care for chronic conditions managed. But now, our community's health is at risk. Orlando Health's potential decision to shut down this hospital rather than repairing it threatens to deprive our local community of crucial healthcare services. 

Shutting down Rockledge Hospital would create an immense healthcare gap in our community. According to a report from the American Hospital Association, in rural areas such as ours, hospitals provide 24 percent of outpatient visits and 20 percent of inpatient visits. They treated over 5.5 million patients in previous years. (American Hospital Association, 2021). 

Orlando Health has a duty to the community it serves. We need them to honor their commitment to serving Brevard County by repairing and maintaining the operations of Rockledge Hospital.
