As a frequent commuter through Hunters Fork Rd. in Belington, WV, my late-night routine includes a stop at Sheetz Convenience Store & Gas Station. It is not only convenient but crucial, helping me keep up with my needs throughout my busy days and even when we are home & some days don’t feel like cooking, sheetz is always available for us to fill our bellies & not to mention, supports mine and many others Tobacco habit.

The proposed closure of the Sheetz Convenience Store & Gas station threatens to disrupt so many people’s lives & make basic living difficult. So many individuals will lose a way to get a meal, a cigarette, and a major important detail, morning coffee & a donut! It will certainly impact belington and all of the people who live here and nearby. Philippi sheetz location will be twice as packed and the people who cannot travel will have to depend on someone else or figure out another way to get something as simple as a drink or snack. Many working individuals who heavily rely on this establishment for fuel and vital amenities during off-peak hours. There are many others also, who are just as important as anyone else who do not have the luxury of a vehicle and live right in the middle of downtown Belington. These individuals solely rely on Sheetz as a way to get a meal and a drink, especially in the late hours. There are also many people who depend on the fuel at sheetz to keep their homes or living set up running & going to another location miles away is not an option. The store’s strategic location and operation hours make it the only available option for late-night workers and residents.

This Sheetz store is more than a convenience store; it has become a beacon of light that never dims, offering solace to workers like me. Statistics indicate that 24-hour convenience stores play a significant role in local economies, not only generating revenue but also providing jobs and meeting the late-night needs of citizens (Source: NACS, Association for Convenience & Fuel Retailing). Hence, the impacts of its closure extend beyond individual inconveniences to include potential economic drawbacks.
