Prevent the Removal of the RSM Boys and Girls Club from Bell Tower at City Hall
The Issue
As a community, we have long relied on the Boys and Girls Club located at the Bell Tower in City Hall. This institution has been a beacon of hope for many families, providing affordable after-school programs for our children. However, plans are underway to cut its funding and replace it with a $300k museum with limited operating hours.
The city's proposed action threatens to displace numerous children who depend on this club as their safe haven after school. For working parents in Rancho Santa Margarita, options for after-school programs are already limited. TLC, the on campus care provider, is the most affordable option at over $400 per month per child and has seen diminishing services over time.
The Boys and Girls Club receives an annual funding of $120k from our city which enables it to continue its operations. If this funding is withdrawn as planned by our city officials, it will be a devastating blow not only to this institution but also to countless families that rely on it.
We urge you to reconsider your decision about cutting funds from the Boys and Girls Club and allow them to continue operating at the Bell Tower. Their current location permits them to effectively serve our community. The future of Rancho Santa Margarita depends on how well we nurture our young generation today.
Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving vital community resources like the Boys and Girls Club that serve as lifelines for many families in Rancho Santa Margarita.
