Prevent the Implementation of Bill HB 5101

Prevent the Implementation of Bill HB 5101
The Issue
As a student in Florida benefitting from advanced classes, I, along with others, find myself facing possible detrimental effects due to the prospective imposition of bill HB 5101. This bill encompasses proposed budget cuts that threaten the quality of our education.
The implications of such cuts are far-reaching and detrimental: They mean fewer qualified teachers, shrinking the pool of professionals who shape our intellectual growth. Fewer professional learning opportunities for teachers would stagnate educator development, encumbering our learning experiences as students. Families additionally would deal with increased costs brought on by required assessment/exam fees and specialized materials - an unnecessary burden in these uncertain economic times.
The decline in quality of equipment and materials for Cape courses also means falling behind industry standard which hinders skill development. A limited variety of course and program options for students reduces the diversity of interests and potential opportunities to explore.
As students, the options we have for education should be widening, not narrowing. Defending the quality of our education means safeguarding our future. Cutting away at our education system cuts away at who we could become tomorrow. This push for quantity rather than quality in education does nothing but harm our futures and I strongly believe that education should never be compromised.
Stop bill HB 5101 from endangering our education. For the sake of all Florida students, now more than ever, your signature holds immense power, sign this petition.
If these cuts to advanced classes affect you or your child, please leave a comment with your experience.
Whether it’s how AICE/AP/IB helped with college admissions, scholarships, or confidence. Your voice matters.
Lawmakers need to hear the real-life impact these decisions have on students and families. The more voices we share, the stronger our message becomes.
