The Government  has launched a 12 week consultation, which ends on the 23rd July 2024 that could see Personal Independence Payments for people with disabilities and Mental Health issues being stopped in favour of voucher or one off grant payments for home adaptations or adjustments and Physiotherapy, which people with disabilities/Mental Health Issues will still require PIP payments in order to travel to Physiotherapy appointments or other Face to Face Therapy Sessions: https://www.disabilitynewsservice.com/pip-claimants-ask-government-why-should-we-have-to-fight-to-live/#:~:text=Under%20the%20plans%20for%20England,vouchers%20or%20one%2Doff%20grants

Time Running Out to Complete PIP Consultation Form and Challenge Voucher scheme: https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/news/time-running-out-to-challenge-pip-vouchers

How can people with disabilities and Mental  Health Issues many of whom  rely on money they receive from Personal Independence Payments, as one of and possibly their only source of income make it through the current Cost of Living Crises if the government stops giving them the PIP Payments they need to live independently?

The Government now says this benefit in it’s current form is unsustainable, this wasn’t the case a year ago when it was willingly distributing Cost of Living Payments to benefit claimants so what drastic change has occurred for them to consider stopping regular PIP payments for claimants that depend on it. What the Government doesn’t understand here is that not all people with disabilities or Mental Health Issues are planning to remain on benefits forever so how can it severely inconvenience those in  genuine need of PIP Payments for living, just to prevent others that are taking advantage of the countries Welfare System, how is this fair to those in need?
Furthermore the Prime Minister says that the cost of the PIP Benefit cannot be sustained by the public finances, however in April 2024 he was happy to increase his own salary and that of  other MP’s see link:

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/mar/15/rishi-sunak-inflation-busting-pay-rise-mp

Also there is essentially No PIP Benefit Fraud according to this article: https://www.bigissue.com/news/social-justice/dwp-disability-benefit-fraud-pip/ So exactly how is continuing regular PIP Payments unsustainable?

Please Sign this Petition to help disabled people  and people with Mental Health issues from losing the help they receive and require due to the government stopping regular PIP Payments and preventing other claimants in need from getting the help they require by the government making plans to change  the assessment criteria for the PIP benefit. Thank you for your support, please sign before 23rd July 2024 as this is when the governments 12 week Consultation on this issue ends. However you are still welcome to continue signing this petition after the 23rd July 2024 as well.

Also we all struggled throughout the Pandemic with managing our own wellbeing and all People in the UK are struggling with the current cost of living Crises, imagine  how difficult it will be for those with long term disabilities and Mental Health issues to live  without the help they need from the PIP benefit?

For People who are currently applying for PIP or are about to have an assessment. I encourage you to continue going through the application process, as the PIP Changes proposed by the government will not come into effect immediately.
