Prevent the demolition of Patriot Park roller hockey rink

Prevent the demolition of Patriot Park roller hockey rink
The Issue
My son is an avid hockey player, spending countless hours each week skating and playing at the roller hockey rink at Patriot Park in The Town of Grand Chute. This rink is not only a significant part of his life but also serves as an essential recreational facility for numerous children, teenagers, and adults in our community. Unfortunately, the future of this beloved rink is now under threat as plans for its removal and demolition have surfaced. The roller hockey rink at Patriot Park is one of a kind in our area, and removing it would leave many without a similar facility to support their passion and fitness. Roller hockey provides not only a physical outlet but also teaches teamwork, discipline, and offers a sense of community. Many parents, like myself, have seen our children grow in confidence and skill thanks to the opportunities that this rink offers. Statistics from the National Recreation and Park Association show that access to community recreational facilities is linked to better health outcomes, reduced crime rates, and improved mental wellbeing. Removing the rink would not only be detrimental to those actively using it but also undermine the greater benefits that accessible recreational facilities provide to our town. Instead of demolishing this invaluable asset, we urge the town of Grand Chute to consider alternative solutions such as refurbishment or enhancements that could make the rink even more accessible and enjoyable for our community. We propose the formation of a local committee to assess the importance and usage of the rink and work collectively towards preserving this vital community resource. We call on local officials and decision-makers to hear our voices and prioritize recreational facilities that contribute positively to community health and cohesion. Please join us in urging the town of Grand Chute to save the Patriot Park roller hockey rink for current and future generations of skaters by signing this petition.
