The Issue

I am reaching out to you as a concerned resident of Jackson, Ohio, a place I proudly call home. Our community is on the verge of a significant change that threatens not only our agricultural heritage but also the serene and peaceful lifestyle we've cherished for generations. The proposed construction of a data center in Jackson poses substantial risks to our farmland, our way of life, and could lead to increased utility prices that would burden our families and neighbors.

Jackson, Ohio, with its rich farmland and strong community values, is a picturesque representation of rural America. Our farmland is not just a piece of land; it is our heritage, our livelihood, and our connection to the past. The construction of a data center would lead to the conversion of this precious farmland into industrial use, disrupting the ecosystem and stripping away the agricultural character that defines Jackson.

Moreover, a data center requires massive amounts of energy and water, resources that are already strained in many parts of the country. This could lead to higher utility costs for all residents, making it even harder for families in our community to make ends meet. The increase in energy demand may also force us into compromising our environmental values, leading to potential reliance on non-renewable resources against our interests.

The peaceful way of life in Jackson is another treasure that would be threatened. The construction and operation of a data center would bring significant noise, traffic, and light pollution, disturbing the tranquility that we have taken for granted in our day-to-day lives. It threatens our local wildlife and could change the face of our community irreversibly.

We understand that technological advancement and development are inevitable, and we support progress wholeheartedly. However, it should not come at the cost of our community's well-being and identity. There are alternative locations that might be better suited for such large-scale industrial projects that do not endanger residential, rural, and agricultural areas. Areas such as reclaimed strip mine ground would be ideal to use instead of prime farm ground. Also an area where there is adequate space away from residents to not disturb their well being, utility loads and their way of life.

Join us in preserving the heart and soul of Jackson, Ohio. We need to take a stand against the construction of this data center in our community. Please sign this petition to urge the relevant authorities to reconsider their plans and help us protect our farmland, ensure our community’s stability, and preserve our peaceful way of life for future generations.
