The Issue

As a long-time resident of Anastasia, St. Augustine, FL, I'm deeply concerned about the government's proposed construction of a 350-room lodge in our cherished Anastasia State Park, which currently houses a mere 100 campsites. Just a few blocks from my home, the park is not just a means of escape from the bustle of city life, but it’s also a refuge for a diverse range of local wildlife.

The proposed lodge would irreversibly increase traffic congestion in our already crowded neighborhood and destroy vast sections of the park's natural habitat. Our local wildlife, which we all cherish and respect, would irreparably suffer, and the serene atmosphere of Anastasia could be lost forever.

Furthermore, studies show that urbanization can have disastrous effects on natural habitats, often leading to a significant loss of biodiversity (Source: National Geographic). Stimulating a balanced approach to tourism and development while subscribing to sustainable practices is crucial to preserving the beauty, tranquility, and ecological health of Anastasia State Park.

Let's unite our voices to protect our neighborhood, our park, and the wildlife which calls it home. Protect Anastasia from overdevelopment! It's not just about preserving the peace of our neighborhood, but about saving a sanctuary for many species. This is a personal plea, but one that affects us all. Stand up for Anastasia State Park. Please sign this petition now and say no to the construction of a 350-room lodge.
