Prevent the Closure of Tumbler Ridge Emergency Department

Prevent the Closure of Tumbler Ridge Emergency Department
The Issue
Tumbler Ridge holds a special place in my heart, as it does for many of us. The stunning beauty and strong community spirit of this northern town make it a unique and cherished home. The proposed (and real closures) of the Emergency Department is just unacceptable. There are a few in management (Northern Health) that are threatening the healthcare security of the citizens of Tumbler Ridge.
The decision to close the Tumbler Ridge Emergency Department is a step backward in our standard of living, especially considering the efforts we have made to maintain and improve our healthcare services in this region. It is not just an emergency service; it is a lifeline, a critical resource that ensures the well-being of our friends, family, and neighbors.
This decision by northern health could cause a deadly cascade effect. One event or disaster small or large in the region dynamically changes the emergency care system because of the use of resources and sharing of resources. We are the experts here , it's our backyard and we are asking Northern Health to keep the hospital doors open.
For the future of the families that come here to start a new or visitors that help develop and live in Tumbler Ridge , we hope for the same standard of care as those on the coast - no barriers to healthcare.
We call for Ciro Vanessa, CEO of Northern Health, to publicly apologize for even considering the closure of such an essential service, especially as winter approaches—Moreover, we demand Ciro Vanessa's resignation due to the failure to provide healthcare security to Tumbler Ridge, putting the community at risk.
The re-opening (back to status quo hours) of the emergency room should be immediate and unconditional.
Please sign the petition and share it with as many people as possible.
