As a concerned resident of West Lancashire, I rely heavily on our existing leisure facilities - Nye Bevan and Park Pool. These facilities serve not only me but countless others within our community, providing essential opportunities for physical activity, social interaction and mental stimulation. Unfortunately, these valuable assets are in danger of being closed, an action that would undermine the wellbeing of our local community.

Our council made a promise to us. They stated they would retain and look after our current swimming pools until alternate facilities were operational in Ormskirk and Skelmersdale. These words gave us reassurance and hope, but now it seems they are on the brink of breaking them.

The impact of such an action cannot be underestimated. In West Lancashire - where these are among the few leisure facilities available - they play a crucial role in our day-to-day lives. Closing these facilities without providing an alternative will deprive our residents of their basic right to stay active and engage socially.
