Prevent the Closure of Lloyds and Halifax Branches in Hexham and Prudhoe

Prevent the Closure of Lloyds and Halifax Branches in Hexham and Prudhoe
The Issue
We've already witnessed the closure of Barclays Bank last year, and now our community faces another major obstacle – the planned closure of the Lloyds branches in Hexham and Prudhoe, and the Halifax branch in Hexham, by the Lloyds Banking Group. Our local banks are more than just financial institutions; they provide vital services which ensure banking is accessible, particularly to those unable to utilise online services, a significant consideration in our area with its aging population.
The closures are planned between the months of May and November this year, threatening to further strip our high streets of valuable resources. Tracy Gilmore, our local Town Councillor, is leading the fight to keep these banks open, but she needs our collective voice and strength.
Lloyds Banking Group, a multi-billion pound business, must consider the social implications of their actions. Their decision significantly impacts our community, reducing accessibility and making daily life increasingly difficult for many of our residents. Furthermore, the consistent closure of banks over the years continues to devastate our once-thriving high street. This is not just about preserving our physical banks; it's about safeguarding our social cohesion and community wellbeing.
Today, we call upon the Lloyds Banking Group to reverse their decision and keep our beloved banking branches operational. Let's stand together to protect our high street, our services, and our community. Please sign and share this petition in support of preserving our banks and strengthening our high street.
