The Franklin County School Board has scheduled a public hearing to discuss the possible closure of Henry Elementary and/or Burnt Chimney Elementary schools for Saturday, February 24, 2024.  The hearing will begin at 1:00 with a presentation of the outline for consolidation that includes classroom assignments by grade level, bus routes, staffing needs, and plans for engaging families in the process. This will be followed by public comments.  Anyone wishing to speak should complete the attached form and send it to Mandy Burnette, School Board Clerk, at mandy.burnette@frco.k12.va.us by noon on Friday, February 23, 2024.   

It is important to note that the scheduling of this meeting does not mean that any decisions have been made regarding the closure of either school.  This meeting has been scheduled so that the School Board members can engage with parents, teachers, and community members about the possible impact of school closures before decisions are made.
