Prevent the all-day beach ban on dogs in Port Erin

Prevent the all-day beach ban on dogs in Port Erin
The Issue
My dogs occasionally enjoy a paddle on hot days, and as someone who drives, I have the option to take them to Gansey Bay if they are banned on Port Erin Beach. However, every morning, as I walk to work, I see loads of dogs playing gleefully with their owners. Whether on or off the lead, they inconvenience no one and bring joy without harm, especially as there's seldom anyone else around at that early hour.
While I can drive elsewhere, not all dog owners have this privilege. For those in our community without transportation, their beloved furry companions would miss out on the simple pleasure of a beach paddle. Why should these families be penalized when dogs on the beach early in the morning cause no disruption or inconvenience?
The current restrictions work well, allowing dogs on the beach before 10 am and after 7 pm. These time slots respect the comfort of all beachgoers without depriving dogs and their owners of vital outdoor exercise and socialization. To impose a complete ban not only undermines these already effective measures but unfairly punishes responsible dog owners and their dogs who cherish this routine as part of their daily lives.
The Isle of Man's beaches are enjoyed by community members and tourists alike. A full ban during all hours would detract from the vibrant and inclusive atmosphere Port Erin is known for. Other towns have found a balance that maintains access for all while ensuring cleanliness and safety for everyone.
Let us uphold an inclusive community spirit by maintaining the current hours where dogs are permitted. The beauty of our beaches is meant to be shared by all residents - both two-legged and four-legged.
Sign this petition to urge the commissioners to not impose a complete daytime ban on dogs at Port Erin Beach and to preserve the existing harmonious arrangements for all local beach lovers.
