As a concerned student of East Tennessee State University (ETSU), I am deeply troubled by the invitation extended to Kyle Rittenhouse to speak at our institution. Rittenhouse, who traveled across state lines and was involved in the fatal shooting of two protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, is a figure that raises significant safety concerns for our community.

The events surrounding Rittenhouse's actions have been widely reported and are a matter of public record. His presence on our campus not only threatens the sense of security among students but also undermines the values we hold dear as an educational institution committed to fostering an environment conducive to learning and dialogue.
