My story is a simple one. I live on disability and I, like so many others, am still reeling from the economic turmoil brought on by the pandemic. Now, Governor Parsons is threatening to reclaim Federal pandemic aid that has been a lifeline for countless Missourians. It's money that does not belong to him, money meant to support ordinary citizens during these extraordinary times.

As per the Department of Labor, in 2020, there was a 25% increase in Missourians claiming disability. These are individuals who rely heavily on state and federal aid, especially during the ongoing pandemic. With the rise in inflation, this aid has become increasingly essential in alleviating the day-to-day financial burden for many disabled citizens.

By reclaiming this aid, Governor Parsons is leaving thousands of his constituents in a vulnerable position. We implore him to reconsider, to think of the human cost and to put the needs of his citizens first.
