Support for the petition to prevent the closure of the Chisos Mountains at Big Bend has surged over the past month, especially with the closure date looming just over two months away. In my efforts to learn more about the situation at Big Bend National Park, I submitted a Freedom of Information Request but unfortunately received no information. What I’ve gathered so far suggests that the staff is apprehensive about losing their jobs and hesitant to speak out regarding the closure.

I encourage everyone who values keeping the Chisos Mountains accessible to continue advocating by signing the petition and reaching out to Congressman Tony Gonzales and Governor Abbott for their support.
