Starting on May 1, 2026, Big Bend National Park is planning to close all of the Chisos Basin including campgrounds, motel, trailheads and more for two years or more depending on how efficient the contractor is and our federal government.  Keep in mind what happened with the federal government in 2025 when the federal government shut down for 43 days and 900,000 federal employees were furloughed.
