We, , are deeply concerned about Kirklees Council’s decision to close Meltham Waste Recycling Centre on Mondays and Tuesdays.

This is also likely to cause staff redundancies 

This decision was taken without consultation with councillors or residents and users and may result in higher demand on the remaining open days.

the meltham recycling centre is a vital facility for the community. reducing its operating days would significantly impact residents ability to manage waste responsibly 

Fly-tipping is already a significant issue in our area, and closing our recycling centre for these two days will only exacerbate the problem, leading to increased illegal dumping and environmental degradation. A lot of fly-tipping is on private land, leading to a cost to landowners for removal of waste.
