PSLF is Scheduled to Be De-Funded

President Trump's proposed 2020 Budget calls for the COMPLETE ELIMINATION of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF), the single-most powerful, most effective Federal Student Loan Forgiveness Program currently on offer.

It's bad enough that President Trump and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos have sought to pause approvals for PSLF; as of late 2018, only 26 applicants of the 34,000 who submitted qualified applications had even been approved to receive their benefits, but seeking to eliminate the program outright would be a national travesty.

If you care at all about utilizing PSLF, or about holding the Government accountable for the promises it makes, then now is the time to take action.

President Trump's Proposed 2020 Budget was officially unveiled on March 11th, 2019 and clearly calls for totally eliminating Federal funding for PSLF.

How Does PSLF Actually Work?

The stated purpose of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program is to “encourage individuals to enter and continue to work full-time in public service jobs”.

To qualify for PSLF forgiveness, people must not only work full-time in a public service position, but also make 10 years’ worth of on-time, income-based monthly payments toward their Federal student loans.

Who receives PSLF forgiveness? Teachers, Government Employees, Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Employees, Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Park Rangers, Military Personnel, and other qualifying public service workers - people who serve our community!

Nearly 500,000 Americans have chosen to serve their Government and Communities over the past 10 years and are in line for receiving PSLF forgiveness benefits in return for their qualifying public service work, and each of these Americans should be able to count on the PSLF benefits promised to them.

The plan to eliminate PSLF is an not only an insult, but also an outrage to everyone who has dedicated their lives to bettering the community by working in a public service position.

Ending the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program is a terrible idea that should be opposed at all costs.

Please help raise awareness of this potential disaster by publicly posting this Petition across Social Media, including Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and any other forum you participate on, as the more people who become aware of this threat, the more likely it becomes that we can stop President Trump's plan to destroy PSLF.

We need to show the Democrats in Congress that ordinary Americans are behind PSLF, and prove to them that there will be a massive public backlash (in terms of lost votes!) if they don't protect this program from Trump's proposed cuts.
