There are roughly 1.7 million veterans at risk of homelessness with approximately 40,000 actively homeless at any given time.

Each military base that has been closed contains thousands of homes (from individual family homes to "dormatory-style" barracks that could be provided to veterans.

Doing so not only provides housing for these veterans and their families, but also prevents the buildings from deteriorating due to lack of use.

We encourage the Department of Defense to coordinate with the Veterans Administration to make this happen.
