You may have heard about how dogfighting is barbaric and beyond agonizing. This blood sport is illegal in all fifty states. So why do people continue this cruel practice? The answer seems to be money.  Dogfighting is a fight between dogs, especially one organized illegally for public entertainment. People pay thousands of dollars to raise puppies for slaughter. According to PETA, "Dogs used for fighting are chained, taunted, and starved in order to trigger extreme survival instincts and encourage aggression." Torturous, right?  Worse, they use cats or stolen pets as bait during training. They then get to maul the animal to death afterward as a reward.  Fights can go on for hours until one dog dies or is mutilated to the point to where they cannot fight anymore. There is also evidence that they drug the dogs.

• The punishment for animal killing is 1-2 years of jail time and 500-1000 dollars
• The punishment for a human murder is a minimum of 25 years in jail or a life sentence. There could also be a death sentence

See the difference between charges? Mankind has grown to think that they are above all the rest, even though we are equals. We must tell the government to put even more of an effort into saving our lovable companions from dogfighting. They have to take us seriously. Save animals, save lives!
