Save the Ogallala aquifer, and increase the water supply in the west.

Save the Ogallala aquifer, and increase the water supply in the west.

The Issue

We are presented with a major opportunity right now that can solve a major problem: Water in the west.  The Keystone pipeline was  canceled, but not after creating thousands of miles of pipeline for oil. This petition is to get The House, The Senate and The President of the United States  to work together to pay TC energy (the company who was going to build the pipeline) to create water pipelines that run from the Mighty Mississippi River to  states like Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, and Utah. These states are in desperate need of more water.

This pipeline would provide water for crops, creating less dependence on the Ogallala Aquifer.  With rapid population growth in states such as Colorado and Utah this would provide much needed water to help sustain that growth.  This would also have cascading effects to other states such as Arizona, Nevada, and California. Right now Colorado uses a lot of water from the Colorado River. If Colorado lessened its dependency on the Colorado River and let more water go down it would produce more water and electricity for the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and southern California.

This pipeline would be relatively easy to install. We could plan the pipeline route to follow I-70 or I-80 giving supply of materials quick and easy access to the job site. This would create thousands of jobs.

Please sign, and Lets Water the West.
