Require food industry in the US to disclose food inventory & donate unused food to charity

The Issue

All businesses that sell food for profit in the United States and Puerto Rico must publicly share unused food inventories and be required to donate a portion of unused food to local charities. By businesses, I mean that companies that sell food (restaurants, cafes, bars, department stores, large-scale retailers, grocery stores, etc.) must post daily food wastage quantities and donate a portion of safe-to-eat, unused food to charities that can receive it.

This will impact my country and the world because it means we are taking a huge step in creating sustainable food management and help eradicate world hunger. To solve this problem, a few things we civilians and the government can do are:

1. Boycott businesses that do not publicly share unused food inventories daily.

2. Research companies that donate unused food to charities and only do business with them.

3. Contact and pressure local and state governments to propose bills to require businesses to donate unused food to end food wastage.

I care about this issue because I care that children like me and families like mine are going hungry everyday and worry about putting food on the table daily. Instead of going to school and learning all there is to know, children cannot run around and have fun because they are severely malnourished and starving. At times, families are forced to beg for food. I hope you will support me in this mission to help end food wastage and world hunger.
