The Issue
We the People of the United States of America want change.
The American people are tired of standing by and watching animals physically, emotionally and sexually abused, tortured, neglected and killed.
Every second of every day thousands of animals are being killed, tortured, starved to death, neglected or mistreated. We are here today to take a stand and be the voice for these animals.
We are looking for laws that cover any form of abuse, neglect, mistreatment, torture or anything else that harms an animal in any way. The law must be written equally to cover all the States in the U.S. and must cover all animals from cats, dogs, cows, sheep's, goats, pigs, rabbits, and all other domestic, Zoo, Circus or farm animals not mentioned. This shall include all animal shelters and factory farm animals as well.
The punishment needs to be longer jail time with a minimum of 10 years per charge and no possibility of owning or being in contact with any animal for the rest of their lives. They will should be responsible for medical expenses and rescue costs.
We have seen videos of these poor defenseless animals that are so heart wrenching that most can't even watch. We have also seen pictures of animals starved to near death, some of which had to be euthanized because they were suffering so badly. Dog fighters use kittens, puppies and their own dogs that lost a fight as bait to train new dogs to fight. This is sadistic, those crimes should not be 1 year in jail and fines, they should be 10 years or more in jail per animal per crime. This is not humane and no animal deserves to be treated this way.
The HSUS, ASPCA, Mercy for Animals and thousands of Rescue Shelters work hard everyday year after year fighting for animal rights and the citizens of the U.S.A. are starting to realize that animals are being abused and something needs to change.
Abusers will continue to do abusive things if we don't show them that the punishment is not going to be a slap on the wrist. A crime is a crime no matter what state we live in and should be dealt with by federal laws. Let's stop these horrific crimes from happening and hold the criminal responsible.
If a person cannot take care of an animal by having them fixed, feeding/hydrating them and showing them kindness they should be relinquished to a shelter, if the person doesn't act responsible then they need to be sentenced to jail so they can pay for the crime. All shelters operating in the United States shall be no kill shelters and the Government should put monies in the Federal budget to help sponsor all shelters so they can continue to care for and house all shelter animals as long as necessary. No animal needs to die, if we work on spay/neutering programs we can stop unwanted pets and stop the killing.
No breeder should be allowed to sell an animal unless they are licensed nor shall they sell any animal that has not been fixed unless they are selling to another licensed breeder.
Responsible human beings love their animals and treat them like family. There is no reason why all animals that we have classified as domestic or farm animals should not be treated with compassion and kindness.
If the U.S.A. wants to remain an icon to the world it is time we take responsibility for all living creatures we share this beautiful country with and be the leader in humane treatment to all animals big and small. It doesn't take anything except a little effort to be kind to something, we are a humane society so let's show the animals that.
