On March 3,2022 I participated in a panel where myself and others expressed the importance of lawmakers taking immediate action in enacting the Equal Act.
If passed, the Equal Act will repeal the disparity between cocaine and crack making them both equal. Passing this law will not only reduce my husband's sentence significantly, but 1000s of others as well.
I’m beyond grateful to have come in contact with individuals who understand my reason for fighting for my husband . Working with those who are relatable to my family trying to obtain freedom, justice and equality is a blessing because we understand what we're doing , who we're doing it for, and WHY we're doing it.
My husband and I are happy with the progress we've been making but we are not content until he has complete freedom and black and brown communities are given the same. Help us show lawmakers that enacting the EQUAL ACT is beyond urgent and that acknowledging the law being wrong is inferior to changing and fixing the law.
