End The Illegal Sanctions On Eritrea
The Issue
Sanctions are imposed by the United States and its junior partners against countries that resist their agendas. They are a weapon of Economic War, resulting in chronic shortages of basic necessities, economic dislocation, chaotic hyperinflation, artificial famines, disease, and poverty. In every country, the poorest and the weakest – infants, children, the chronically ill and the elderly – suffer the worst impact of sanctions.
US imposed sanctions, violate international law and are a tool of regime change. They impact a third of humanity in 39 countries. They are a crime against humanity used, like military intervention, to topple popular governments and movements. They provide economic and military support to pro-US right-wing forces.
ERITREA IS A VICTIM OF THAT!
President Joe Biden signed an executive order on Nov 12, 2021 placing an illegal sanction on Eritrea, due to the United States personal self interest.
This unilateral sanction, that shifts blame to and scapegoats Eritrea on the basis of spurious allegations, is in contravention of international law, and constitutes a flagrant breach of… sovereignty.
NOVEMBER 2020 The Eritrean government reacted to the imminent danger to its territorial integrity and security posed by the TPLF ‘when they fired rockets at ERITREA a sovereign country, following an unprovoked attack on the Northern Command of Ethiopia’s National Defense Forces on November 3, 2020.’ Moreover, the Ethiopian government stated that it has never laid accusations regarding the initial presence of Eritrean forces on its soil in defense of their territorial integrity. The prerogative to put forth such a complaint lies with the Government of Ethiopia and not any other country.
The primary aim of the illicit and immoral sanctions is to inculcate suffering and starvation on the population so as to induce political unrest and instability is patently clear.
The real target for sanctions and further tougher actions by the US government and the greater international community should be directed towards the TPLF (Known as a Terrorist Organization in Ethiopia).
