A National Monument will ensure the protection and conservation for the future. This unique designation can be made by the President of the United States and is consistent with the wishes of the federally recognized Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians Tribal Council who have worked to have the site designated as a California Sacred Site. Santa Susana Field Laboratory is where rocketry and space history began as well as home some of the most well preserved pictograph cave paintings in North America. National Monument status would also provide additional needed certainty and protections of the sacred sites as well as the birth of modern rocketry and human space travel which began development at Santa Susana.

Currently, the site has been declared excess by NASA and historic structures are scheduled for demolition this year. Help us #SaveTheTestStands and preserve this important part of human history.
