Ann Patton-Bender remains in a Costa Rican prison, convicted for murdering her husband by a corrupt Costa Rican court in Perez Zeledon on May 27, 2014. Ann Patton committed no crime. CBS forensics experts have – not surprisingly – recently concluded that Ann did not murder her husband:

Corruption is the rule, not the exception, in Costa Rica. Corruption is completely institutionalized in that country. This link says it all:

Ann Patton’s conviction is all about money. If the Costa Rican legal system manages to keep her imprisoned, the Costa Rican state and several individual Costa Rican citizens who Ann once trusted to manage her financial affairs will manage to steal approximately $100 million in assets that rightfully belong to her. Ann’s conviction had nothing to do with justice. It was all about greed by a band of cowards who took advantage of Ann in her unfortunate circumstance.
Ann Patton’s freedom is now at the mercy of an appeals tribunal in Costa Rica. On June 23rd, her defense attorney filed an appeal to her conviction, and she now awaits their response. Justice for her depends on that tribunal’s competence to see through the corrupt police investigation of her husband’s death and the corrupt verdict of the lower court system. Justice for Ann is now entirely dependent on the capacity of another Costa Rican judicial entity to act in a competent and responsible manner. That this will happen is certainly very questionable in a country where corruption is expected of government officials when money is at stake.
All of her money has been stolen by Costa Ricans she once trusted. She needs a strong legal defense throughout the appeal process to defend herself against this systemic attack on her rights and property. She does not belong in a Costa Rican prison. She is a kind, honest, dignified human being who absolutely does not deserve the disgusting abortion of justice that has taken place to her detriment in Costa Rica. If the Costa Rican judicial system fails to do justice, Ann Patton will not survive her corrupt 22 year sentence.
