I would like to draw your attention to the festival Rapa das Bestas that takes place in Galicia. I would like to start by expressing my strong objection to the rounding up of wild horses, which condemns them to lives in captivity or worse. Horses are handled inhumanely during this festival, which includes the trauma of being rounded-up into the corrals, confined into crammed spaces and wrestled down to the ground by the aloitadores. Grooming, deworming and branding of horses, if required, needs to take place in humane chutes in order to minimize the stress experienced by these animals. I urge you to stop this festival.
