Switch Chatham University's online learning to pass/fail during Covid-19 crisis.

This petition made change with 769 supporters!

This is a very difficult time for everyone. With the spread of Covid-19 forcing Chatham University to move its courses online, there was always going to be a certain amount of understanding necessary for all involved. Professors must change their curriculums and adapt to new ways of teaching while students must attempt to complete a full course load using an unfamiliar method. We are all working to accomplish these goals to the best of our ability during a period that is unprecedented for most of us in both its uncertainty and its disruption to our ways of life.

During this time, we should consider adopting the strategy of Northwestern University, Middlebury College, Smith College and others: making our courses have the option of pass/fail. This would allow instructors to focus on learning with an emphasis on growth while students could complete their courses without fear of ruining their GPA because of mistakes. This will be a testing time for all of us and it would be an intelligent move to cut everyone involved in the teaching and learning of these courses some slack. Please consider signing this petition for review by our school's administration. If we can remove this bit of pressure from our learning it will allow us to better focus on staying connected through the routine of our classes during a time in which we all are struggling to find normalcy.
