Kominfo untuk menarik "kebijakan" untuk memblokir situs-situs tertentu. (Reddit & Tumblr)

Masalahnya

I will write this petition mainly in English, so that people from all over the world may understand, I will also write it in Indonesian so you Indonesians don't worry.

Firstly, I will tell you a few things about Indonesia, we have strict laws that goes to even the weirdest subjects, such as the restriction to have sex out of marriage, to have anal sex (you read it right), consume pornography in any form, and to promote LGBT. But, despite all that, I still love this country, where I was born and raised and where my ancestors live and die, for and in this country.

And now the matter that I want you to know is that the Government has blocked several sites that they deem too pornographic for the eyes of Indonesians. And I'm not here writing this petition to promote porn or to gather a movement to legalize it like they do with weed in the U.S., but to liberate the creative minds that are confined by ludicrous laws. Many Indonesians my not know, but the Government has blocked the ISP to Reddit.com, a site where you can find almost anything, ask anything, from game walkthroughs, cooking tips, news that spans from entertainment to sports. The Indonesian Gov't has blocked it because, and I quote, "Promotes pornography and contains porn." It's true that people can ask about and give recommendations to which porn sites to browse, but that is only a small fragment of the whole idea of the whole site. President Barrack Obama, the U.S. president once made a subreddit with the topic of AMA (Ask Me Anything) where people can ask the President anything, from political to matters of the healthcare system. It's a quite handy tool for the Indonesian President to use or anyone, really, to use to connect with people, as a vessel for their aspirations.

The other site I want to talk about is Tumblr, a microblogging platform and social networking website (I looked it up Google, don't judge me) that the Ministry of Communication and Information wants to block because it also promotes pornography. Honestly, most people already agreed that, and I quote, "You can only find porn on Tumblr if you look for it or follow a blog that contains porn.". And most important of all, the site was not intended for porn anyway. You may think that sites such as PornHub, RedTube, etc. (Most guys know a lot of porn sites, come on guys, be honest.) that the main idea of the site was to promote porn and if you access the site, porn is the first thing you see, that's not how it goes with Reddit or Tumblr.

With the current talk in Indonesia that we need to expand our creative industry, but to block sites that can be a vessel for creativity is pretty damn ironic. You can post your drawings or photos to Tumblr and look up almost anything on Reddit. I mean, come on! The internet is 40% porn, by porn I mean videos/photos of people being for the arousal of its audience, and suggestive themes can be found in nearly 100% of the internet, such as YouTube or Google. Youtube even contains mothers breastfeeding and people kissing, does that count as porn? Or if you look up stuff on Google, and you find a porn site, does Google counts as promoting porn? Even some blogs on Blogspot or Wordpress contain porn, guys. And Netflix was blocked because of the same reason. NETFLIX! A streaming site that requires a credit card to log into! Also they also want to block Twitter. TWITTER!

I think that's pretty much all of the hate in my heart, for the moment. I may add or correct my statement if required.

So, I plead to the President and the Government. Please. Take back these "policies" and change the Minister, for all we care, because honestly, he isn't helping anyone.

Thank you, and don't forget to sign the petition. Love you guys.
