Today we are calling on President Biden and Congress to take immediate emergency action to enact and implement a FIVE (5) YEAR MORATORIUM on the issuance of so-called Incidental Take Permits (KILL PERMITS) of ENDAGERED or THREATENED SPECIES by NOAA, retroactive to January 1, 2021.

And we seek immediate increases in fines from the current paltry amounts (Kill First Offense $3,500 - Statutory Maximum; Kill Second Offense $7,500 - Statutory
Maximum; Kill Third Offense$13,000 - Statutory
Maximum) to $25,000,000 for the killing of any severely endangered North Atlantic Right Whales, and $20,000,000 for killing any Humpback Whales.

"...The North Atlantic Right Whale Consortium announced that the North Atlantic right whale population dropped to 336 in 2020, an eight percent decrease from 2019. The newly released estimate for the critically endangered species is the lowest number in nearly 20 years."
