There is an opportunity to change the current moral compass at the BACP by submitting a motion for this year's Annual AGM. After six months struggle to have our voices heard, we have been confronted with silence and denial, and have exhausted almost every avenue to discover a democratic response to our petition from 1,850 members!
Our only option now seems to be that we replace the existing autocracy by appointing a new Chairperson who believes in a member-led Association.
Please consider using your right to submit a motion to bring about change that gives our members' voices a say in our future, many thanks.
Many members are using the motion below as a starting point:
Motion Topic:
Replace the current chairperson of the BACP
Motion Summary:
Remove and replace Natalie Bailey with a new chairperson who believes in democratic member involvement in BACP.
Explanatory Statement:
This motion seeks to replace the current chairperson with a candidate who’s moral compass reflects that of the members, and will not consider it appropriate to
· introduce a 5-year plan without full membership participation
· impose any framework, such as SCoPEd without full membership participation, and preside over a situation that is harmful to vast numbers of the members who are supposed to be protected and promoted
· overturn the limitation of First-Class travel, as a legitimate travel expense, other than in the case of disability
· indulge in international travel to destinations including USA and Australia spending many times the average members’ annual income when an online presence would have sufficed
· totally fail to report any benefits whatsoever to the membership in the way of a report or news article
· take a CEO abroad at members’ expense just before leaving their temporary post
· refuse to publish independent reports into the Governance at BACP
· fail to publish the outcome of an independent report into critical social media posts
· fail to respond constructively to membership petitions for changes in policy, such as the scandalous revoking of senior accreditation, even when nearly 2,000 members sign up
· use the membership journal and website Blog as a controlled media outlet instead of a voice for members
Every BACP member has an opportunity to submit a motion for the Annual AGM before 5pm on Friday 24 May 2024 at https://www.mi-nomination.com/bacpsubmission
If you wish to support the Senior Accredited members revocation of their status please consider submitting your own motion to the BACP at your earliest opportunity, many thanks.
