Ridgefield’s waterfront is one of the most special places in our community, but a proposed high-density development along the waterfront could permanently change it.

The current plan includes dense housing, commercial development, and limited natural space—while raising serious concerns about impact to wildlife,  traffic, safety, infrastructure, and overall not keeping the heart of the community in mind with this build. 

Key concerns:

High-density development that doesn’t fit the character of Ridgefield, over saturating the heart of our city and what’s left of our serene landscape.

Roads and infrastructure not equipped for increased traffic near our once quaint downtown and elementary school.  This also brings public safety concerns. 

Harm to wildlife and natural habitat - this can only negatively impact the Ridgefield Refuge and the sensitive ecosystem.  24/7 added stress with high density housing developments, constant lights, noise, and people coming and going at all times. 

No improvements or expansion of the boat launch marina, a local staple that we have enjoyed for years, but has become difficult to use with the growth of the city and high demand.  

Water and resources - Ridgefield’s  rapid growth has already strained the city's limited aquifer capacity.  How can we support adding dense housing before this problem has been solved?

Only 9 acres planned as “park-like” and natural setting gathering space - we were sold on an idea that was not the full picture.  

Development that appears to conflict with stated goals to protect nature, recreation, and Ridgefield’s identity

We are asking for:

-A reevaluation of the scale and density of this project
-Protection of the waterfront’s natural beauty and wildlife,  ensuring that Extensive Environmental Impact Study is done beforehand

-Infrastructure and safety planning BEFORE development moves forward

-Water and resource concerns addressed and solved before development moved forward 

-Meaningful community input in the decision-making process
