The Issue

Petition to Upper Darby Township Council

For more than 70 years, the Primos-Secane-Westbrook Park Fire Company has proudly served the neighborhoods of Primos, Secane, Westbrook Park, Hilldale, Roselawn, and Penn Pines. In addition to protecting our first-due area, our members routinely respond to requests for mutual aid throughout Upper Darby Township and neighboring communities across Delaware County.

Beyond emergency response, the Fire Company has remained committed to the community through fire prevention education, holiday parades, Santa Claus tours, public events, and countless volunteer hours dedicated to serving our residents.

Upper Darby Township Council is now considering acquiring the Fire Company's property through the exercise of eminent domain.

At the same time, the Fire Company has been actively engaged in discussions with Township Administration regarding potential alternatives, including formal agreements that would allow emergency services to continue while addressing the Township's operational needs.

We believe those discussions should be allowed to continue before the Township pursues the extraordinary step of acquiring private property through eminent domain.

We respectfully ask Upper Darby Township Council to:

  • Suspend any effort to acquire the Primos-Secane-Westbrook Park Fire Company property through eminent domain while negotiations remain active.
  • Continue working collaboratively with the Fire Company to reach a mutually acceptable agreement.
  • Preserve uninterrupted emergency services while respecting the Fire Company's longstanding role within the community.

The Primos-Secane-Westbrook Park Fire Company has protected our community for generations. We ask Township Council to continue pursuing collaboration before resorting to eminent domain.

Please sign this petition to support continued negotiations and the preservation of this community institution.
