Today, the Broyhill Crest Recreation Center hosts July 4th celebration, filled with activities, food, and fun for all ages and open to the public. Andres Jimenez will be at the pool today and is expected to address the community's main question: Why do FPCA guidelines not apply to the Kendale Woods courts? Hopefully, he can provide some clarity on this issue.
I've received a few emails about the FCPA video where Jai Cole is announced by the moderator saying: "Are we ready to move on to the pickleball haters presentation."
In the video you hear board members laughing about pickleball, it's important to clarify that this meeting took place before community members arrived to express their concerns about the changes made without community input. What we didn't realize was that Cole had already conveyed the message that the Kendale Woods courts 'were a done deal.' If you listen to the five-minute segment on Kendale Woods, you'll notice that Cole doesn't mention the guidelines for residential courts. Additionally, she presented several inaccuracies, these are just a couple:
Cole incorrectly stated that a Vienna court was shut down, when it merely had its hours of play restricted.
She failed to mention that the Kendale Woods courts were relined in 2023 following the FPCA pickleball guidelines.
There was only one complaint about the Kendale Woods courts, and it occurred in 2022.
We hope you have a great Independence Day and hope to see you at the pool!
